Species: Human
Canon: Black Butler/kuroshitsuji
Canon Point: Link to Permissions: Permissions. Character Age: 14
CRAU: No
CRAU Explanation: Remove if Irrelevant
Character Appearance: full body and
bust with color Powers and Abilities: Sword: He knows fencing, but regardless of his skill level he's 14 with the physique of a wet macaroni noodle, so probably not getting a whole lot of mileage out of this skill on its own.
Crocodile tears: Alois has absolutely no shame when it comes to saving his own hide. He'll happily play up the sad baby boy act or grovel in a heartbeat if he feels threatened. When combined with swords can actually make him something of a threat, assuming a character makes the mistake of having sympathy.
What Did Your Character Wish For? What Potion Did They Receive? Did They Drink It? If Yes, What Element/Animal? This is only relevant for Red and Gold potions and can be omitted if the potion is Blue.
Character Questions: 1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon, or who is someone they miss the most and why?Who Alois is most bonded to and who he misses the most aren't actually the same person. His younger brother, Luca, died when he was young, and he was the only person to love him unconditionally, so Luca is always number one in his heart, but as he's long since passed, the connection there has been frayed with the passage of time even if the love remains. Since then, Claude, the demon he made a pact with, is the only example of "love" and "affection" he's encountered since the death of his younger brother. However this bond is entirely transactional on Claude's side. Claude serves him as his butler, tending on his every whim and seeing to his happiness, and Alois, having been abandoned, used, and abused for the majority of his life, fell head over heels in love despite knowing that Claude is only in it to make a meal out of his soul. He seems to find some solace in that he's wanted in some way, even if it's just to be used as food.
2. What are they most afraid of and why?Alois' fears are generally childish, but most are rooted in very valid reasons. When he was a child, a fire burned down his village, killing everyone, and while he had no love to the villagers, he loses his brother from the incident. It's left him with a fear of large blazes , but also a fear of the dark. Once the fire died out he was completely alone in the dark for the first time. Also given how much loss he's suffered, it's no surprise that he fears being alone or abandoned- this is his greatest fear, and it dictates a lot of his actions.
3. What are their emotional, mental, and physical weaknesses and why? Answer for all three.
Alois is a spectacular mess in all three categories. He has very little to no control over his emotions at all, he is capable of empathy, but if something triggers an emotional flair up, he'll just act without thinking. A good example of this is an incident with a butterfly, he finds one caught in a spider's web and frees it out of sympathy. However, when it flies away the act of it leaving him agitates him and he tears off one of its wings. Now that it needs him he gleefully runs about to make it a nice home filled with flowers so it can 'drink nectar until it gets fat'. Later that night the butterfly dies and as he holds it mournfully he tells it that it should have lashed out and struck him down for what he did, clearly aware of his wrongdoing and riddled with guilt over it. In a final attempt at compassion (that couldn't wait until morning apparently), Alois tries to burn it to give it a kind of funeral, but being impulsive and reckless, he accidentally sets his entire room on fire instead. There are a number of examples of him doing similar things, but the butterfly incident is a perfect example of him jumping from hot to cold, from kindness and compassion to cruelty, and back again, all in the span of just a few hours. Every emotion he feels, he feels it at full throttle, and it can override his compassion and logic easily.
Human Trafficking and CSA mention in the following paragraphMentally Alois is carrying a lot of trauma from the hardships in his life. It's honestly a miracle that he knows enough compassion to be kind at all. In flashbacks he mentions regularly being spit on or having rocks thrown at him by villagers after his parents died, even other children are seen harassing his younger brother, and he no doubt faced similar treatment. When he loses Luca, he loses the last family that loved him. This is where his deep rooted fear of being alone or abandoned stems from, and the threat of having such happen to him can send him into a panic. As if that tragic backstory wasn't enough, just wait, there's more! After living on the streets and likely resorting to thievery to survive, he gets picked up by human traffickers, and brought to an pedophilic Earl with a fondness for young teenage boys. Out of a desire to not just survive
but thrive, he embraces the role and finds the will to make something of himself, even if it means selling his soul to do so. Thus he's angry at the world, and his bouts of cruelty are just him lashing out because the world was cruel to him, his impulsive recklessness is a form of self destruction, as he loathes the things he's done.
Physically, Alois is a 14 year old Victorian Child. His clothes are dyed with arsenic, hats are made with mercury, and there's lead in absolutely everything. The fact that he's even made it to 14 is a miracle in and of itself, and unsurprisingly, he's very small. He is the frail Victorian child stereotype, only SLIGHTLY offset that he was a street kid for most of his life, so he's at least scrappy. Which, fat lot of good that does when you're
at most 5'4, and can be scooped up like a foul tempered chihuahua.
4. What discrepancies are there between their inner self (who they feel they are) and their outer self (how they present themselves to others)?Alois' inability to regulate his emotions tends to make it incredibly difficult for him to maintain differing personas, at most he can put on an act for a time, but not indefinitely. At times he's arrogant and cocky, other times he's timid and uncertain, or one minute he'll pull some dangerous stunt, and the next he'll be crying in fear over his own wellbeing.
5. What would make them happiest and why? What would make Alois happiest and what he wants aren't entirely lined up. Even after his death, he'll no doubt still pine for Claude's affection. It's the closest thing to kindness he knows, as mentioned earlier. However, at the core of this he really just wants to be loved, that's what would make him happiest, but the problem is he doesn't exactly know what love looks like, the closest he can get is being looked at like he's wanted.
6. What characteristics does someone need to have to be your character's ideal significant other? In the case a character is underage or does not feel romantic attraction, answer for an ideal platonic partner or best friend.
Alois has an incredibly low bar for people he'll latch on to. Just throw him some scraps of affection, take care of him, make some effort to know him. If you introduced this little thing called "standards" into the mix, then his actual Ideal Person would be someone that does show him genuine affection and love, but also someone that understands that the world can be ugly and full of shit. He'd need someone patient and firm, as his impulsive nature and tendency to be a general menace for his own amusement will make him a handful. Basically a very jaded parental figure is what he needs.
7. Would your character make a sacrifice to save someone else and why or why not? That entirely depends on the individual. He would do anything for his brother Luca, and after developing a needy obsession with Claude he essentially does sacrifice himself for the sake of being food. Any other individual would need to inspire him to obsess over them in the way he does Claude, sadly that's not a particularly difficult thing to accomplish as he'll be quick to lap up any scraps of affection tossed his way. That said, once he latches onto somebody he'll be far less likely to latch on to others, making it only that one individual he'll sacrifice himself for. Everything else goes against his drive to survive.
8. What is one thing they would tell their younger self if they had the chance, or if your character is young, what is one thing they would want their older self to remember? In the case of teenagers, you can pick either question.
9. When in dire circumstances does your character fight, flee, freeze or fawn and how does that look? CSA MENTION Alois' default is always to fawn. He did it to win the old Earl's trust, unlike the other boys who were reluctant and fearful, Alois embraced it, deliberately making himself appealing and being affectionate to the Earl (for the sake of catharsis the guy caught a nasty illness implied to be Alois' doing, and Alois posed as his son and inherited everything). Much when faced with a life threatening stab wound during a dual, his immediate reaction is to cry, grovel, and beg for his life to be spared.
